About our Study Guild

Anlaby Primary School Study Guild is designed to complement our Curriculum and provide an interesting, fun and stimulating way to find out how to learn based around interesting topics that we haven't got time to squeeze in to our curriculum!

Apprentices

When a child joins the study guild they are classed as an apprentice in the guild. They will then be shown different methods to help them learn and remember key facts and vocabulary about their chosen area of study. This may involve reading the information, drawing mind maps, creating mnemonics,  answering quiz questions and more! When the children fell they are confident in their chosen area of study the will have a quiz on their chosen area of study. There is no pressure to achieve this first time round and they can have as many goes to complete the quiz as they like. If they don't complete it first time round they can go back to their information and use the techniques they have learnt to see if they can remember any further information. When they have completed the quiz they will become journeymen of the guild.

Journeymen

These are children who have completed a study unit and have shown they can learn and pass the quiz for their chosen areas of study. They can now choose to study more learning units and become proficient in learning new units of study. A journeyman can also help other children to study the units they have passed. They will help them by showing them how to draw mind maps or help them with learning the facts by asking them quiz questions. When a child has passed five study units and helped three other children to pass a study unit they can apply to be recognised as a Master.

Masters

A Master a child who has learned and passed the quizzes for five units of study and helped three children to pass a study unit. Before they are officially recognised as a Master they will have their own special quiz to pass to demonstrate how well they have retained all the facts they have learned. Masters are expected to become a major part of the study guild supporting and helping other children to learn.
